Mulligan, the hero of my Providence, RI-based crime novels, is a big Red Sox fan–and coincidentally, so am I. In fact, a trip to Boston’s Fenway Park figured into the plot of “Rogue Island,” the first Mulligan novel. So I decided it would be a good idea to have him tag along when I went to Fort Myers to join the team at its spring training camp this month. It would give us some quiet time to mull over his next adventure, maybe give me a head start on writing when I got back.
While I was there, I took in some games, had the run of City of Palms Park on an off-day, and even got to take batting practice just moments after Dustin Pedroia stepped out of the same batting cage. I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the photos I took on the trip. Funny thing, though. Mulligan doesn’t show up in any of them.
