The Cleveland Plain Dealer’s review of my crime novel, Rogue Island:
This fresh, propulsive novel reads more like the work of an old pro than of a newcomer to fiction. Old-school journalist Liam Mulligan knows all the crooks and politicians — often the same people — in Providence, R.I. (“Rogue Island”), but he is stymied trying to discover who’s been setting fires in his old neighborhood, leaving five people dead. DeSilva, who spent 41 years at the Providence Journal, gets the sarcasm and humor of reporters exactly right, and shows a polished hand at pacing and character development. May this be the beginning of a long series, and a big career. Grade A
